Flooding

7/18/2018 (Permalink)

Flooding is a common disaster that causes millions of dollars worth of damage every year, especially during the hurricane season. Although no homes can be completely protected against flooding,  you can reduce the damages in the event of a flood. Learn the flood levels. This helps you know how high flood waters can rise in your area. Take necessary actions based on current information. Repair leaky roofs and check for cracks in the foundation, to prevent water damage and mold growth. Also protect the electrical in your home by raising the wiring sockets, circuit breakers and switches, at least 1 foot above your home flood level. Elevate the water heaters, air condition units. To prevent  sewage from backing up into your home , install interior back flow valves. Storms can lead to severe flooding. Be prepared and call SERVPRO of Katy/Cypress, the professionals in restoration.
