Thunderstorms

6/12/2018 (Permalink)

A thunderstorm is a rain shower when thunder is present. If you can hear thunder, that also means there is lightning. Weather is hard to predict, especially when it comes to thunderstorms. When a thunderstorm hits, there is no safe place outdoors. Head inside and stay away from appliances that conduct electricity incase lightening hits the dwelling. Thunder storms develop when warm humid air near the ground receives an initial push.

SERVPRO of Katy/Cypress has received several calls of house fires that were started by lightning during a thunderstorm. If you are out in the elements, find a safer terrain as soon as you hear thunder. Do not wait until the storm hit. Avoid peaks, ridges, and higher grounds. Thunderstorms can cause a lot of damage, including lightning strikes, wind gust, hail, heavy rain, etc. Stay indoors, be safe and avoid being stuck out in the storm.
