Hurricane Harvey Part II

Now comes preparation. Stock the fridge. Fill the bath tub. Bunker down and wait. As the hurricane hits you almost are mesmerized with a mix of fear and awe as the rain pours down on your city. I always think of the scene from Forrest Gump when they are in Vietnam and it won’t stop raining. The next step is different for a lot of people. For some it was grab you best belongings and leave before the hurricane. For some it was bunker down but now you are being evacuated. For some it was just a little bit of water in the house and you grab things off the floor and move them to higher ground. For some of us we were truly lucky and did not get water in the house. Now it is time to wait for the water to recede. Usually this happens in a couple of days but for this storm it took a couple of weeks. It was unlike anything I have ever seen. Now it’s time to roll your sleeves up and get to work.
